Russian Forces Launch Multi-Region Attacks Across Ukraine, Leaving 2 Dead and Over 50 Injured

Russian forces carried out widespread attacks across Ukraine over the past 24 hours, striking at least eight regions and leaving at two people dead and more than 50 injured, according to local authorities.

Overnight on June 1, Russian forces launched two waves of drone attacks against Odesa and the surrounding district, injuring seven civilians and causing damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and other civilian infrastructure.

This was reported by the Head of the Odesa City Military Administration Serhiy Lysak.

According to preliminary findings, the strikes damaged the facade, balconies, and windows on the first through fourth floors of a nine-story apartment building. Two single-story apartment buildings and two private homes also sustained damage.

Authorities reported that at least seven vehicles parked near the impact sites were damaged. A utility building and several non-residential structures were also destroyed or affected by the attacks.

In a comment to Suspilne, Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Inna Verba said two victims required hospitalization.

A 31-year-old woman was diagnosed with a closed traumatic brain injury, a concussion, and multiple facial abrasions. A 53-year-old man suffered an acoustic blast injury, a hypertensive crisis, and an acute stress reaction.

According to Verba, the remaining injured individuals were treated on site. Most were diagnosed with acute stress reactions and minor abrasions.

Meanwhile, in Donetsk region, Russian shelling and strikes killed one person in the town of Druzhkivka and injured eight others across the region, according to local governor Vadym Filashkin.

In Kherson region, local authorities reported attacks on 39 settlements, including the city of Kherson, with six people injured over the past 24 hours. Governor Oleksandr Prokudin added a man was killed in a morning strike on the village of Shyroka Balka on June 1.

Additionally, in Dnipropetrovsk region, Russia carried out nearly 30 attacks using drones and artillery against three districts in the region, as reported by governor Oleksandr Hanzha.

In the Nikopol district, the district centre, as well as the Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities, came under fire. Infrastructure, an industrial facility, a fuel station, private homes, and vehicles were damaged.

Four people were injured. A 54-year-old woman was hospitalised in serious condition, while a 52-year-old man is also receiving treatment in hospital, with doctors assessing his condition as moderate. Two other women, aged 56 and 67, will undergo outpatient treatment.

At the same time, in Sumy region, as a result of Russian strikes, 10 people were injured over the past 24 hours, with damage also reported to private homes, vehicles, and civilian infrastructure.

Overall, between the morning of 31 May and the morning of 1 June, Russian forces carried out more than 90 attacks on 41 settlements across 21 territorial communities in the region.

Additionally, nine people were injured in Russian attacks on the Kharkiv region, local authorities reported.

In Kharkiv city, women aged 34, 58, 65, and 76 sustained injuries. In the village of Dehtiari in the Bohodukhiv community, a 38-year-old woman was wounded, while in Postolne in the Zolochiv community, two women aged 54 and 87 were injured.

In Bohodukhiv, a 39-year-old woman experienced an acute stress reaction. In the village of Sulyhivka in the Oskil community, a 34-year-old man was also injured.

According to regional officials, Russian troops used a wide range of weapons in the Kharkiv region, including one missile, multiple launch rocket systems, one guided aerial bomb, 13 “Geran-2” drones, five “Molniya” drones, one FPV drone, and 32 additional unmanned aerial vehicles of an unspecified type.

Separately, in Chernihiv region, Russian drone strikes injured nine residents, including three children, according to governor Viacheslav Chaus. Meanwhile, in Zaporizhzhia region, the regional military administration said a morning strike targeted the regional centre, injuring a 73-year-old woman.

Previously, on May 24, Russia launched a massive assault against Ukraine using 690 drones and missiles, including a medium-range ballistic missile that appears to have struck the southern portion of the Kyiv region. The capital city took the heaviest blow, suffering significant devastation with over 40 sites reporting damage.

By late afternoon, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the death toll in the capital had reached two, while the number of injured had climbed to 77, including two children. Out of those injured, 31 individuals were admitted to the hospital—with three listed in serious condition—while the remaining 46 victims were treated on-site or received outpatient care.
