Russian FPV Goes After Ukrainian UGV—And Gets Smashed in a Drone Duel, Video

A Ukrainian unmanned ground vehicle destroyed a pursuing Russian FPV drone by deliberately ramming it during an unusual drone-on-drone encounter in the Pokrovsk sector, Ukraine’s 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade reported.
The ground robot was returning from a combat mission when a Russian FPV began chasing it, forcing Ukrainian operators to first attempt evasive maneuvers before choosing a far more aggressive solution.

“Pokrovsk sector. While returning from a combat mission, an unmanned ground vehicle of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade of the 7th Air Assault Corps came under pursuit by an enemy FPV drone,” the brigade said.
According to the unit, the operators initially maneuvered the robot in an effort to avoid being hit. When the FPV continued the pursuit, they decided to turn the encounter into a direct collision.
This is a new level of anti-drone maneuvering.

The brigade said the crew then, “on sheer nerve, went for the ram” and emerged victorious from what it described as an unmanned battle.
The encounter highlights how increasingly crowded the battlefield has become with different classes of unmanned systems operating at the same time.
FPV drones are routinely used to hunt vehicles and ground robots, while Ukrainian forces are expanding their use of UGVs for logistics, evacuation, reconnaissance, and combat missions.
Earlier, Ukraine’s DevDroid has put its combat unmanned ground vehicles through trials with the Italian Army, testing how Ukrainian battlefield robotics can operate alongside Italian systems and plug directly into a NATO tactical network.
