Russian Jet-Powered Shahed Hits Ukrnafta Gas Station During Morning Attack on Kyiv, Injuring Four

At least four civilians were injured in a Russian drone attack on Kyiv on the morning of September 10, with one of the drones striking the grounds of an Ukrnafta gas station in the city’s Holosiivskyi district.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that emergency services were dispatched to the district after a UAV fell on the gas station premises, causing a fire and setting a car ablaze.

The fires were quickly extinguished, Klitschko said. He initially reported three people injured but later updated the toll to four, adding that three of them had been hospitalized.

Serhii Fedorenko, head of Naftogaz, said the facility was struck by a Russian jet-powered Shahed drone. According to him, the Ukrnafta gas station was not operating at the time because of the air raid alert, and both staff and customers had left the premises in accordance with safety protocols.

Fedorenko said those injured had been near the gas station at the time of the attack.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported that the strike set a passenger car on fire and damaged a public transport stop. A fire also broke out in an eight-story non-residential building, while diesel generators caught fire following a subsequent impact. Emergency crews extinguished all fires.

The attack on Kyiv came amid continued Russian drone strikes on civilian sites elsewhere in Ukraine. In Sumy, a Russian attack drone struck the grounds of the Manufactura shopping and entertainment center, killing three people and injuring two others.
