Russian Missile Strike Kills Eight Civilians Waiting for Train in Kyiv Region

Eight civilians were killed in Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv region after they were struck while waiting for a train at a railway station in Brovary district.

According to Brovary District State Administration Head Vitalii Bihun, speaking during Ukraine's national television broadcast, the victims were waiting at Kvitneve railway station after missing their last train because of a delay.

“I am currently at Kvitneve station, where, unfortunately, we have the highest number of casualties and injured. Last night, the train was slightly delayed, and people missed their last train. At this time, we know of eight people killed,” Bihun said.

Bihun said Russian strikes caused major destruction at five locations across the district.

Among the damaged sites were logistics facilities, including those operated by food retailer Fozzy Food, as well as other civilian infrastructure. Numerous residential buildings were also damaged in the attack.

“The extent and severity of the damage are currently being assessed. All relevant emergency services are working at the scene,” he said.

Bihun added that firefighters were continuing to battle a blaze at one of the country's largest freight logistics hubs.

“At this point, we know of eight people killed, three others whose condition is still being clarified, and around 12 people who are currently in hospital receiving emergency medical care,” he said.

Overnight August 5, Kyiv came under a massive Russian attack as more than 30 ballistic missiles were launched at the Ukrainian capital. According to the Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the strike killed one person and injured 26 others. Sixteen of the wounded remain hospitalized in city medical facilities.
