On April 30, 2026, damage was confirmed at the production buildings of the Sverdlov Plant in Dzerzhinsk, located in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The facility is one of Russia’s largest producers of explosives and is responsible for equipping various types of ammunition, including artillery shells and warheads for anti-tank missiles.

The Sverdlov Plant also produces the high-explosive bombs that Russian forces later convert into guided aerial bombs. These munitions have been a significant component of Russian military operations.

Additionally, a strike on April 25, 2026, hit buildings at the Kedrovka arsenal in the Sverdlovsk region. This site serves as a storage facility for the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Further reports confirmed a strike in May 2026 on the Bryansk Chemical Plant in Seltso. This facility produces explosives and acts as a critical link in the supply chain for the Russian military’s ammunition needs.

Previously, unmanned aerial vehicles struck an industrial area in Russia’s Leningrad region overnight on April 3, with the target believed to have been a defense-related explosives plant located in the settlement of Morozova.

According to regional governor Alexander Drozdenko, air defenses intercepted several drones approaching the area, noting that seven hostile UAVs were shot down. Debris was recorded falling in the Vsevolozhsky district, and the roof of a non-operational building in the industrial zone of the Morozova settlement was damaged.
