UFO or Russian Weapon? Ukraine Downs Mysterious Ring-Wing Strike Drone, Video

Ukrainian drone operators from the 414th "Birds of Magyar" Brigade downed an unusual Russian strike drone with a distinctive ring-shaped wing on October 8.
ArmyInform reported that Wormbusters pilots from the brigade intercepted the KVS, or "Knyaz Vladimir Svyatoslavich," and published footage of the engagement.

"What was that? Probably a UFO! It came out of nowhere... Oh, wait, it did fall," the brigade wrote in its post.
The KVS is a relatively new Russian strike drone developed by the Ushkuynik research and production center. The system uses a 10-inch frame and was designed for strikes at medium distances, according to data cited by ArmyInform.
Its defining feature is a ring-shaped wing surrounding the fuselage. The configuration is intended to combine vertical takeoff with more energy-efficient horizontal flight.
The KVS belongs to a broader family of Russian drones developed by Ushkuynik. The company also produced the "Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg" reconnaissance drone and the fiber-optic "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodskiy."
In April, Ukrainian intelligence disclosed that the reconnaissance model has a claimed range of up to 45 kilometers and endurance of up to 3.5 hours.

Earlier reports documented the destruction of other Russian drones developed by Ushkuynik. On February 18, Ukraine’s National Police reported that operators from the Dnipro-1 Regiment of the Liut United Assault Brigade had shot down a rare Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg reconnaissance drone.
The aircraft, used for deep reconnaissance and artillery fire correction, has a reported maximum speed of 130 km/h and an operational range of 45 kilometers. Another drone of the same model was destroyed by Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment in January 2026.
