Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Russian military air base at Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea overnight on July 5, while also targeting two road bridges and three ammunition depots across temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff said the operation was conducted as part of efforts to reduce Russia’s offensive capabilities. It added that the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

According to the General Staff, Hvardiiske is one of Russia’s principal military air bases in temporarily occupied Crimea. The facility is used to host tactical and naval aviation aircraft, support combat sorties, provide logistics, and conduct maintenance of military aircraft.

The General Staff also reported strikes on two road bridges used by Russian forces for military logistics.

The targets included a bridge over the Hruzkyi Yalanchyk River near Huselnykove and another over the Kalmius River near Staromariivka in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region. Ukrainian officials said Russian forces use the crossings to move personnel, weapons, ammunition, and other military supplies.

In addition, the General Staff said Ukrainian forces struck three Russian ammunition depots located near Makiivka in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, Dovzhansk in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, and Preobrazhenka in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region.

The Ukrainian military did not specify the weapons used in the operation or provide an initial assessment of the damage. Russian authorities had not publicly commented on the reported strikes at the time of publication.

On July 4, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) released footage showing the destruction of a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet during a drone strike on Belbek Air Base carried out on the night of June 25–26. One day earlier, satellite imagery indicated fires at the Kerch ferry terminal, an airfield near Dzhankoi, and electrical infrastructure elsewhere on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
