According to a statement published by Ukraine’s General Staff on June 17, the strikes were carried out on June 16 and overnight into June 17, targeting Russian military infrastructure and logistics routes supporting operations in occupied southern Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces hit the tanker FINA A (IMO 9283306), a vessel identified as part of Russia’s shadow fleet used to transport oil and petroleum products while circumventing international sanctions. The ship is currently under sanctions imposed by Ukraine, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Switzerland.

The General Staff also reported strikes against transportation infrastructure used by Russian forces to move personnel and equipment between occupied territories in southern Ukraine. The targets included a road bridge over the North Crimean Canal near the settlement of Stavky and another road bridge near Voinka in the occupied part of Kherson region.

In addition, Ukrainian forces said they struck a Russian command and observation post as well as a command center near Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region.

Several Russian drone control positions were also targeted, according to the General Staff. The reported strike locations included areas near Kamianske and Novoprokopivka in Zaporizhzhia region, Ivanopillia and Komar in Donetsk region, Oleshky in Kherson region, Maliivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, and Korovyakivka and Kucherov in Russia’s Kursk region.

The General Staff said the operation was aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to sustain military operations against Ukraine.

Earlier, on June 10, Ukraine’s General Staff reported a strike on the sanctioned tanker WEST Horizon, another vessel linked to Russia’s shadow fleet. Ukrainian authorities said the attack damaged the ship’s propulsion and steering systems, leaving it unable to operate normally.
