Ukraine Hits Russia’s Industrial Heartland Again—Gazprom Giant Burns as Wildberries Site Is Struck Too

Ukrainian drones struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining and petrochemical complex in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, while a Wildberries logistics facility in the same region also came under attack, according to the Exilenova+ OSINT community on August 13.

Footage and reports published online showed a fire breaking out at the Gazprom facility following the drone attack. Local Russian authorities, meanwhile, claimed that debris from intercepted drones had fallen in the area.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is Gazprom’s largest petrochemical facility and one of Russia’s major oil refining and petrochemical complexes.

The plant is capable of processing approximately 7.5 million metric tons of crude oil per year, accounting for roughly 2.7% of Russia’s total refining capacity.

Its product range includes gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gases, butyl alcohols, ammonia, urea, polyethylene, and other petroleum and petrochemical products.

The attack therefore targeted a major component of Russia’s refining and chemical industry as Ukraine continues expanding its long-range campaign against energy and industrial facilities deep inside Russian territory.

On the same day, Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries confirmed an attack on one of its facilities in Bashkortostan.

OSINT footage showed multiple Ukrainian drones striking a facility in the region.

“Because of an air attack in Bashkiria, a fire broke out in the industrial zone where one of the company’s facilities is located. Fire crews are working at the scene.

The facility was evacuated in advance in accordance with safety requirements.

No goods are stored at the facility in question,” Wildberries said.

The company did not disclose the extent of the damage.

Previously, reports emerged that Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries—which processes 6 trillion rubles ($74 billion) in annual sales across nearly 100,000 pickup points—have wiped out one-third of its total warehouse capacity.
