Ukraine Offers Allies Partnership in Intercepting Russian Jet Drones

Ukraine is offering international partners access to its newest interceptor technologies designed to counter jet-powered drones, contingent on funding to expand manufacturing, according to Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with Euronews.

Scaling production before the onset of winter remains a central priority as these defense systems require significant financial backing.

Under existing bilateral agreements covering unmanned systems, partner nations could negotiate access to Kyiv's latest defensive developments, according to Budanov.

Ukraine has already begun operating these new interceptor systems in combat conditions, with primary attention focused on rapidly increasing output.

In his Euronews interview, the head of the Presidential Office noted that the current iteration of this technology successfully stops the majority of Russian Shahed drones. However, expanding production capacity to meet operational demand continues to be the primary challenge.

Budanov emphasized that the focus remains on establishing a broader framework of international cooperation rather than targeting a single military product.

Ukraine continues to expand and upgrade its domestically developed unmanned systems. The Ukrainian Plastun unmanned ground vehicle recently received an upgrade that doubled its maximum payload capacity from 50 to 100 kilograms.

Trident Tech, the system’s developer, disclosed the improvements to Militarnyi on August 18. The 35-kilogram robotic platform has been in service with Ukraine’s Defense Forces since 2023.
