According to the project, the smoke was rising from the area of the Syzran Oil Refinery in Russia's Samara region.

Russian authorities have not officially acknowledged the reported attack, and the Samara region was absent from the Russian Defense Ministry's morning operational update. Drone alerts had been issued in the region overnight, as reported by The Moscow Times.

About the Syzran Oil Refinery

The Syzran Oil Refinery, owned by Russian state-controlled oil company Rosneft, has an annual processing capacity of 8.9 million metric tons of crude oil, accounting for more than 3% of Russia's total refining capacity.

The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and bitumen. It supplies fuel to the Samara, Saratov, and Penza regions, as well as parts of central Russia.

The refinery also provides fuel to military airfields and Russian military units within the Central and Southern Military Districts. It is located more than 800 kilometers (about 500 miles) from Ukraine's border.

The same night, Ukrainian drones also struck logistics facilities linked to Russia's largest online retailer, Wildberries, hitting warehouse sites in the Moscow and Leningrad regions.
