Ukraine Strikes Russian Drone Launch Site in Donetsk for Second Time in a Week

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian storage, preparation, and launch site for attack drones near temporarily occupied Donetsk for the second time in less than a week, as part of a series of attacks on Russian military facilities across occupied Ukrainian territory.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 8, the strikes were carried out on September 7 and overnight into September 8 and targeted several facilities used to operate Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

A site near Donetsk used to store, prepare, and launch attack drones was hit, the General Staff said. Ukrainian forces also targeted Russian drone command posts in Chornomorske in temporarily occupied Crimea and Zaliznychne in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Another Russian command post was struck near Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region. The General Staff said the extent of the damage and Russian losses was still being assessed.

Earlier, on September 7, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence struck a Russian aircraft in temporarily occupied Crimea. The agency released footage of the operation but did not identify the aircraft type, while media reports suggested the target may have been a Russian Su-24.
