Ukraine Strikes Russian Missile Launch Institute and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Disposal Facility

Ukrainian forces struck two Russian missile-related facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region overnight on October 9, targeting infrastructure involved in missile launch systems and the disposal of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strikes, identifying the targets as a branch of the Barmin Research Institute of Launch Complexes and a facility responsible for dismantling intercontinental ballistic missiles.

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces hit a facility belonging to the Barmin Research Institute of Launch Complexes, a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure, near the settlement of Dalneye Konstantinovo-5.
The institute specializes in the development, maintenance, and operation of missile launch positions, fueling equipment, and missile control systems, making it part of Russia's missile infrastructure.
In a separate operation, Ukrainian forces targeted the Center for the Disposal of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles near the settlement of Surovatikha, also in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The General Staff said the strike was intended to weaken Russia's military-industrial capacity to produce explosives and components used in rocket propellants.
In addition to the two facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ukraine's General Staff confirmed a strike on the Redkino Experimental Plant in Russia's Tver region.
The Redkino Experimental Plant is a major chemical production facility in Russia’s Tver region, specializing in small-batch manufacturing of specialty chemicals. The enterprise produces more than 40 types of chemical products supplied to Russia’s aviation, aerospace, and other industrial sectors.

Its product range includes ferrocene-based compounds used as combustion catalysts in solid-propellant rocket engines, alongside specialized materials, protective coatings, and fuel additives. These substances serve both civilian industrial purposes and military production needs.
Ukrainian forces also targeted the Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery in Ukhta, Russia's Komi Republic, approximately 1,700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, as Kyiv continues strikes against Russian energy facilities in response to Moscow's attacks on Ukrainian territory.
