Ukrainian forces carried out a series of strikes against Russian military facilities in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions on October 14 and overnight into October 15. According to Ukraine’s General Staff, the operations targeted Russian drone infrastructure and personnel concentrations.

In a statement on October 15, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces had struck a concentration of personnel from Russia’s Rubikon drone unit near Novokostiantynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Rubikon Center is one of the most effective units within the Russian Ministry of Defense in the combat use of drones and one of the Russian military’s most significant innovations in 2024–2025.

Ukrainian troops also targeted a facility used to store, prepare, and launch Russian attack drones near the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk.

According to the General Staff, explosions and air defense activity were reported in the city following the operation. The extent of the damage inflicted on the Russian facility is still being assessed.

The Ukrainian military emphasized that such operations are intended to weaken Russia’s ability to launch drone attacks against civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.

“The systematic targeting of storage, preparation, and launch sites for Russian attack drones is aimed at reducing their ability to strike Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure,” the General Staff stated.

In addition to the latest operations, Ukrainian military officials confirmed damage from an earlier strike on Russian drone infrastructure in occupied Crimea.

According to the General Staff, an October 13 attack damaged four facilities used to store Russian drones near the settlement of Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula.

The Ukrainian military also reported evidence of secondary detonations at the site, indicating explosions following the initial strike.

Ukrainian forces have also targeted Russian drone training infrastructure in the occupied Kherson region as part of separate operations aimed at disrupting Moscow’s unmanned systems capabilities.

During an overnight operation on October 10–11, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate (HUR), working alongside the Ukrainian Navy’s 426th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment, destroyed a Russian drone operator training center in the settlement of Khorly.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the facility was operated by Russia’s 18th Combined Arms Army and was used to prepare drone operators for Russian military operations.
