Ukraine’s 40th Separate Marine Brigade Neutralizes Russian Infantry in Donetsk Region

Ukrainian forces have successfully executed Operation “Audit” in the Donetsk region, clearing approximately 5 square kilometers of territory in the Pokrovsk sector, the Press Office of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade reported on September 28.

The brigade wrote that the search-and-strike operation targeted Russian infantry units attempting to infiltrate the area in small groups and accumulate in concealed shelters for future advances.

During direct combat engagements, Ukrainian marines neutralized the detected enemy forces. The Press Office of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade confirmed that two Russian soldiers were taken prisoner during the operation, while the remaining occupiers hiding in the area were eliminated.

The flow of enemy infiltration in this specific area of the Pokrovsk direction was successfully halted through a coordinated effort.

As detailed by the Press Office of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade, the joint operation was carried out by a separate sniper company, a separate reconnaissance company, and the 1st Marine Battalion of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade.

This operation happened against the backdrop of Ukraine’s Third Army Corps successful recapture of 51 square kilometers and five settlements in the Donetsk region during the third phase of “Operation Vivaldi,” bringing the total territory liberated in the offensive to 176 square kilometers.

By deceiving Russian forces about the main attack vector and utilizing remotely operated BTR-60 armored personnel carriers to breach fortified positions, Ukrainian troops eliminated roughly 2,000 Russian personnel and captured over 250 prisoners.
