Russia has provided active support to Iran’s war effort despite previous Kremlin denials to the White House, General Dan Caine, Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told The Guardian during a high-profile Senate hearing on April 30.
While General Caine declined to provide specific operational details due to the public nature of the testimony, he explicitly stated, “There’s definitely some action there.”

His remarks contradict previous claims by Moscow that it was not interfering in the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, following the launch of Operation Epic Fury in February 2026.
According to The Guardian, the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Republican Senator Roger Wicker, supported the General’s assessment. “There’s no question that Vladimir Putin’s Russia is taking serious action to undermine our efforts for success in Iran,” Wicker said.

He warned that this collaboration is part of an effort by the Kremlin to destabilize American military objectives in the Middle East.
The confirmation of Russian aid to Tehran follows statements from Kyiv regarding the depth of this military partnership. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously stated that he has “100% facts” that the Russian leader Vladimir Putin had transferred drones produced under Iranian licenses back to Tehran for use in strikes against American bases.
Ukrainian intelligence also identified Russian-made components within UAVs deployed in the Middle East and warned that Moscow is sharing satellite intelligence to help Iran identify targets.
