Poland will allocate an additional 8 million zlotys ($1.95 million) to purchase power generators for Ukraine, helping the country prepare for the upcoming winter period and strengthen the resilience of its energy sector.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced the new funding following an informal meeting of foreign ministers from the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Warsaw, as reported by Ukrinform.

He spoke during a joint media briefing alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.

“The priority is to support Ukraine in preparing for the upcoming winter period and increasing the resilience of its energy sector. Poland will allocate an additional 8 million zlotys to support the Energy Community. Generators for Ukraine will be purchased with these funds,” Sikorski stated.

Sikorski noted that the meeting confirmed the unity of regional nations in the face of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Participants agreed that strengthening military and financial aid to Kyiv remains key, Ukrinform reported.

Following the talks, participants unanimously agreed on a joint statement, which designated helping Ukraine prepare for winter and bolstering the resilience of its energy infrastructure as key priorities. In parallel, Ukraine is negotiating with European regional authorities to secure buses and generators.

On November 5, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said that Ukraine had received another $4.89 billion from the EU under the Ukraine Support Loan program.

The funding package allocated approximately $4.15 billion for macro-financial assistance to cover priority budget expenditures, while around $741 million was earmarked for the immediate needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Koretskyi emphasized that this support was critically important for maintaining the state’s financial stability and strengthening its defense capabilities amid ongoing Russian attacks.
