Russia has threatened the United Kingdom with “consequences” following reports that Ukrainian forces are using British-made jet-powered drones to strike targets inside Russian territory.

The Russian Embassy in the UK issued the warning in a statement on August 17, claiming the reported use of British drones demonstrated what it described as London’s deliberate decision to escalate the war in Ukraine.

The embassy also accused the UK of complicity in Ukrainian strikes against targets deep inside Russia, arguing that British military support for Kyiv makes London directly involved in such attacks.

According to the statement, the UK’s actions would “inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer.”

The Russian Embassy further warned that the greater Britain’s involvement in the war and its support for Ukraine, the “higher the price” London would have to pay.

The warning follows reports that Ukraine has been using British-made drones for long-range strikes inside Russia for the past six months. The Times reported on August 16 that the systems had been deployed in attacks on oil refineries in Volgograd, Yaroslavl, and near Moscow.

The operations mark the first reported sustained use of UK-produced drones for deep strikes inside Russian territory. Citing sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, The Times reported that drones manufactured by two British companies have been involved in the campaign.

Among the systems used is the Nyan One Way Effector, a jet-powered strike drone developed by Callen-Lenz, part of BAE Systems’ FalconWorks division.

British-made drones had previously been used by Ukrainian forces against Russian targets in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. In April, Ukrainian forces deployed a Malloy Aeronautics T-150 heavy-lift drone in an operation that destroyed a bridge over the Konka River in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Kherson region.
