The assembly was organized by the Special Operations Medical Association, which serves as a global platform for specialists in operational and tactical medicine. Established in 1987, the Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA) serves as the premier global organization dedicated to the unique intersection of pre-hospital, tactical, wilderness, and disaster medicine.

As the only association of its kind, SOMA bridges the gap between military and civilian medical providers, academia, and industry to advance the "art and science" of unconventional healthcare. Through its official publication, the Journal of Special Operations Medicine (JSOM), and its annual Scientific Assembly, the association facilitates the high-level exchange of ideas and technology.

In 2026, SOMA underscored its prestigious standing by launching a major historical initiative with Historical Research Associates, Inc. to document the legacy of special operations medicine. Leadership of the organization has consistently featured distinguished figures, most recently including Colonel (Ret.) Sean Keenan, MD, who served as president through 2026.

The Ukrainian delegation included representatives from the Training and Assault Company of the 3rd Corps, the tactical medicine group, and the 4th Separate Medical Battalion.

The Ukrainian military medics presented alongside leading international experts. Their presentations focused on practical methods developed directly on the battlefield.

This included the treatment of combat injuries under the constant threat of drones and modern approaches to blood transfusion at Role 2 field hospitals.

The 3rd Army Corps emphasized that the Ukrainian experience is already influencing the development of international standards for medical care in combat conditions. "We continue to spread unique cases from the battlefield and change global care protocols," the corps stated.

Previously, Ukrainian manufacturer Inguar Defence introduced a specialized medical evacuation version of its Inguar-3 armored vehicle, designed to streamline the extraction of wounded personnel from active combat zones.

The manufacturer reconfigured the standard troop compartment into a dedicated medical module and replaced the traditional rear doors with a rapid-load hydraulic ramp. This new design used integrated guide rails to ensure the swift and stable loading of stretchers under fire.

Despite these structural changes, the vehicle retained its STANAG 4569 Level 3 protection and high-mobility chassis, which had already proven its survivability during previous Russian FPV drone attacks.
