The rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is set to headline two concerts in St. Petersburg this October, according to The Moscow Times on August 17.

The performances are scheduled for October 10 and 11 at the Gazprom Arena, which can hold roughly 80,000 spectators.

Tickets are already on sale, ranging from $106 to $1,880 for VIP boxes. The Russian promoter Say Agency has previously organized appearances by Lil Pump, Flo Rida, Akon, and Jason Derulo.

The St. Petersburg dates follow several major appearances across the region. Ye performed before 118,000 people in Istanbul, Türkiye, and 70,000 in Tbilisi, Sakartvelo, ahead of an August show in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

A promotional poster circulated online advertises Ye’s planned St. Petersburg concerts at Gazprom Arena on October 10 and 11, 2026. The black-and-white graphic features the names “Kanye West” and “Ye,” with the city, venue, and dates written prominently in Russian over an image of a stadium-scale performance.

Antisemitism and severed contracts

The bookings come despite years of controversy over Ye's antisemitic statements and use of Nazi imagery. He has publicly voiced admiration for Adolf Hitler and released a track titled "Heil Hitler" in May 2025, The Guardian reported.

Talent agency 33 & West later cut ties with him, and Shopify removed his Yeezy storefront after it offered a T-shirt bearing a swastika.

His merchandise has also drawn attention for its political imagery. Items tied to his 2026 Mexico appearances featured a dove-shaped emblem combining the flags of the United States, Mexico, and Russia.

In April, the United Kingdom barred Ye from entry over his antisemitic remarks. Planned appearances elsewhere in Europe, including in Italy and Poland, were also canceled.

A long-running Russia connection

Ye has maintained ties with the Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy for years. The two were reported to have met in Moscow in 2016, and Rubchinskiy later became Yeezy's head of design in December 2023.

Ye returned to Moscow in June 2024 for Rubchinskiy's 40th birthday, a private trip that drew extensive coverage in Russian media. Rumors of a performance at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium circulated at the time but did not materialize.

The rapper has also drawn scrutiny over past public praise for the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, and for far-right figures.

At odds with the Kremlin's narrative

His scheduled Russian concerts contrast with the Kremlin's repeated claim that its war against Ukraine targets "Nazism." Moscow simultaneously portrays itself as a defender of the historical memory surrounding Nazi Germany's defeat.

International performers have continued to appear in Russia during the full-scale war despite mounting criticism.

In July 2026, musicians from the US, Britain, Germany, and France were scheduled to perform at the Outline electronic music festival in the Moscow region.

Authorities canceled the seven-day event on July 21, citing the threat of Ukrainian drone strikes. Critics have argued that such appearances help normalize life under the regime and generate economic activity that feeds state revenues.
