Ukraine Identifies 5,816 Foreign Components in 202 Russian Weapons

Ukraine’s military intelligence has identified 5,816 foreign-made components in 202 Russian weapons systems as of August 2026, highlighting the continued use of Western and other foreign technologies in Russia’s military production despite international sanctions.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry (HUR) reported the findings after presenting Ukrainian diplomats with samples of foreign components recovered from Russian missiles and drones.

According to HUR on August 10, the presentation was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, his deputies, and Ukrainian ambassadors serving in different countries. The diplomats play a role in efforts to strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia and prevent the circumvention of existing restrictions.
“Showing and providing evidence of the use of foreign technologies in Russian weapons of terror is an important task in monitoring compliance with sanctions,” HUR said.
The intelligence agency said most electronic components found in Russian cruise and ballistic missiles, drones, and armored vehicles are manufactured abroad. Russia obtains these components from Europe, Asia, and North America by circumventing international sanctions through “gray” supply schemes and third countries, according to HUR.
Among the samples shown to Ukrainian diplomats was a Jetson Orin microcomputer manufactured by US-based Nvidia. The component was recovered from Russia’s latest S-71M Monochrome cruise missile.
HUR also presented an inertial module containing components manufactured by US company Texas Instruments and Japan’s TDK Corp., along with dozens of other foreign-made elements.
The intelligence specialists additionally displayed a Geran-2 strike drone, as well as foreign components recovered from Russia’s Geran Seeker drone and the Banderol cruise missile.
Meanwhile, Russia’s military-industrial complex plans to manufacture 11,000 strike drones in August, with production focused on various Geran, Harpy, and Gerbera models.
Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy chief of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, told RBC-Ukraine that Russia’s planned output for the month includes Geran-1, Geran-2, Geran-3, Geran-4, and Geran-5 strike drones, as well as Harpy, Gerbera, Gerbera strike, and Gerbera seeker variants.
