100,000 Tons of Munitions Still Detonating at Russian Military Depot, Video

A powerful explosion occurred in the Kirzhach district of Russia’s Vladimir region, according to Governor Alexander Avdeev on April 22.
The blast reportedly took place at the 51st ammunition depot of the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate.

The depot, identified as military unit 11785, is said to house over 100,000 tons of munitions, including artillery shells, rockets for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), components for air defense systems, and tactical missiles such as the Tochka-U.
As of 10 pm Moscow time, the detonation of the munitions is still ongoing, local authorities confirmed.
Secondary detonations of stored munitions at the 51st depot continue, further escalating the situation. Residents have reported that various types of rockets are being scattered across surrounding areas due to the ongoing explosions.
A forest fire has broken out adjacent to the depot, raising additional environmental and safety concerns. The blaze is believed to have been triggered by the ongoing blasts.
The fire at the Russian military depot has been clearly recorded by NASA’s satellite-based fire monitoring system. Satellite imagery shows active heat signatures in the region.
A more accurate assessment of the overall damage will only be possible once the smoke clears and high-resolution satellite imagery of the area is released.
