The Russian army still maintains an advantage in artillery shells on the front lines, but since the winter of 2024, this advantage has been reduced by nearly threefold, reported Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, on a national TV, RBC-Ukraine reported on October 1.

“Currently, the ratio of artillery ammunition usage on the battlefield has decreased compared to the winter of 2024. Back then, the ratio was 1 to 8. Today, it stands at 1 to 3,” Havryliuk said.

He noted that Ukraine struggles to compete with Russia in the production of weapons, military equipment, and ammunition due to Russia’s larger industrial capacity. As a result, foreign assistance and the effective work of officials are crucial.

“Our agencies, government, and leadership are doing significant work to establish joint ventures, so with the help of our partners, we can develop the full range of weapons and military equipment we need,” the Deputy Minister added.

Earlier, Ukraine struck two major Russian ammo depots destroying several hundred tons of shells and missiles.
