Bayraktar Drone Maker Defies Russian Attacks, Keeps Building Major Factory in Ukraine

Turkish defense manufacturer Baykar, known for producing the Bayraktar line of combat drones, will continue construction of its drone manufacturing plant in Ukraine despite repeated Russian strikes, company CEO Haluk Bayraktar said in an interview with Ukrinform on October 9.
On the night of August 29, Russian forces targeted the Turkish Bayraktar drone plant in Kyiv for the fourth time in six months.
“Above all, this attack is yet another testament to the brutality that the Ukrainian people bravely face every day,” Bayraktar said.
He stressed that the safety of Ukrainians remains his top priority and confirmed that no one was injured in the latest strike.
“Steel, concrete, and buildings can be rebuilt. What truly matters is our determination and belief in this project. No missile can damage our friendship,” the Baykar CEO said.

Bayraktar added that the Russian attack has not changed the company’s plans. After assessing the damage, construction is continuing as scheduled.
In a recent operation highlighting the battlefield impact of Baykar’s technology, a Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 drone destroyed a Russian high-speed assault boat carrying airborne troops attempting to land on the Tendrivska Spit in the northern Black Sea.
According to the Navy’s press service, the TB2 dropped two precision-guided bombs on the vessel and a nearby group of Russian paratroopers, killing seven soldiers and wounding four. The strike underscored the continued effectiveness of Baykar’s drones in countering Russian operations in the region.
Earlier, Japan’s Defense Minister Gen Nakatani met with Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler in Ankara to discuss expanding bilateral defense cooperation, including Tokyo’s potential purchase of Turkish-made drones for Japan’s Self-Defense Forces.
