During the 32nd meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Canadian Defense Minister David McGinty announced that Canada would provide an additional $36 million to support Ukraine's armed forces, as reported by European Pravda on December 16.
At the meeting, McGinty highlighted that Canada would contribute an additional $50 million to the “drone coalition.”

The Canadian government stated that as part of this coalition, “Canada continues to explore opportunities to expand its support for Ukraine's unmanned systems,” according to European Pravda.
“These contributions complement Canada's provision of advanced capabilities, including over $296 million for optical and infrared targeting and visualization systems, allocated since 2022. To date, 140 units have been delivered, with 18 more expected in the coming months,” the statement noted.
Additionally, Canada will continue supplying Ukraine with equipment, including engines for AIM-7 and AIM-9 missiles, as well as supporting equipment. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2026.

McGinty also reminded of Canada's contribution of $200 million under the PURL initiative. This package, worth approximately $500 million, will fund the purchase of air defense systems, ammunition, and other equipment for Ukraine from the United States.
“Canada remains steadfast in its commitment to Ukraine, but we cannot overcome these challenges alone. By working with our allies and partners within multilateral initiatives, we can address Ukraine's urgent needs and strengthen its defense capabilities. Together, we aim to promote security and stability in the region by 2026,” the minister emphasized.
Earlier, Germany provided Ukraine's Armed Forces with two Patriot air defense systems and the ninth Iris-T air defense complex.
