Russian forces launched coordinated drone and artillery attacks across Ukraine on December 16, injuring civilians in multiple regions even as peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia continue.

Two children were injured in a Russian attack on the Belynykivka community in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. The morning strike, which targeted the village of Chervone with a drone, caused acute stress reactions in two girls, aged 12 and 17, Oleg Synegubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration wrote in Telegram on December 16.

Emergency medical teams provided assistance on-site. The attack also resulted in a fire in a private home, which is currently being extinguished by emergency services.

In Donetsk region, two residents of Kostiantynivka were injured due to artillery shelling. Additionally, in Druzhkivka, a man was killed, and two others were wounded when a Russian drone hit a car, Suspilne reported.

Meanwhile, in Kherson, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the Dnipro district. The drone dropped explosives, injuring two women, aged 76 and 48, with shrapnel wounds to their legs and heads. Both victims were hospitalized, and medical teams are providing necessary care, according to Kherson Regional State Administration.

Two individuals were injured in Zaporizhzhia due to a Russian drone attack. A 37-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman are receiving medical treatment for their injuries, Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration wrote in Telegram.

Oleg Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional State Administration reported that Russian forces attacked the southern part of Odesa region with strike drones once again. No casualties were reported, but several civilian and transport-related objects were damaged.

Emergency services are currently addressing the aftermath of the attack, while law enforcement is documenting Russia’s ongoing war crimes against the civilian population in Odesa.

Russian forces also attacked Nikopol in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region with FPV drones and shelled several nearby communities, including Pokrovska, Chervonohryhorivska, Marhanetska, and Myrivska. Vladyslav Haivanenko, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, reported the attacks on Telegram.

Damaged infrastructure includes an industrial enterprise, a gas station, two private houses, agricultural buildings, and vehicles. No fatalities or injuries were reported. Further drone strikes also targeted the Hrushivska community in Kryvyi Rih.

Previously, it was reported that Russian forces struck the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Sunday morning, wounding at least six people, including a child and an emergency worker, according to the official Telegram channel of Zaporizhzhia region governor Ivan Fedorov.
