The Czech Army has been tracking unidentified drones flying over sensitive sites, including military installations, spokesperson for the Czech Army’s General Staff Zdeňka Sobarnia Košvancová told Echo24 on October 10, adding that details of the affected locations remain classified and that the military “continuously exchanges information about threats with its alliance partners.”

Košvancová told Echo24 that the military has been tracking drone activity over key sites.

“Especially over our military facilities. However, the list of such locations is classified information,” she said.

She noted that the army is equipped to both detect and neutralize drones.

“Either in a non-lethal form—electromagnetic interference, so-called jamming—or in a lethal form—neutralization by kinetic force. The choice of response depends on the potential risk of collateral damage. The conditions for the deployment of Czech armed forces on national territory are defined by law,” Košvancová added.

Czech Interior Ministry spokesperson Hana Malá said authorities are working closely with foreign partners to boost resilience against such incidents.

“Czechia has an established airspace protection system, ensured by the Czech Army, which will respond appropriately depending on the threat. The Czech Police and Military Police are also authorized to intervene against drones, and their response will correspond to the type and nature of the threat,” she told Echo24.

Police Presidium spokesperson David Šen added that protecting Czech airspace remains “primarily the responsibility of the Czech Army,” which should be addressed for further information.

Earlier, it was reported that Czechia imposed new entry restrictions on Russian diplomats and holders of service passports, allowing access only to those officially accredited by the Czech government.
