Daily Update: Russia Loses 930 Troops, Two Tanks and 20 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost 930 personnel over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on March 17.

According to the latest figures, Russia’s total estimated losses since the start of its full-scale war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,280,860 troops.

The General Staff said Ukrainian forces also destroyed or damaged additional equipment, including two tanks, three armored fighting vehicles, 20 artillery systems, and one multiple launch rocket system over the past day.

Drone losses remained particularly high, with 1,991 operational-tactical UAVs reportedly neutralized, alongside 120 vehicles and fuel tankers.

In total, Russia’s cumulative equipment losses now include 11,783 tanks, 24,218 armored vehicles, 38,477 artillery systems, and 1,688 MLRS, among other assets.

The update comes as battlefield activity remains intense. Ukrainian officials reported 171 combat engagements along the front line within the past 24 hours.

Russian forces also continued large-scale strikes against Ukrainian positions and civilian areas. According to the General Staff, Moscow carried out one missile strike, 70 airstrikes, and dropped 200 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Russian forces launched 9,616 suicide drones and conducted 3,715 shelling attacks, including 98 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems.

Earlier, Ukrainian paratroopers from the 79th Air Assault Brigade inflicted heavy losses on Russian forces near Pokrovsk, reportedly destroying an entire battalion from the Russian 5th Motor Rifle Brigade “Oplot.”
