Ukraine’s Top General Says Russia Losing Troops Faster Than Can Replace for Three Months in a Row

Russia’s battlefield losses have exceeded the number of new troops entering its military ranks for three consecutive months, according to Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi on March 13.
The statement was made following Syrskyi’s meeting with General Micael Bydén Klasson, the commander of the Swedish Armed Forces.

According to Syrskyi, despite continuing offensive operations along the frontline, Russian forces are suffering heavy losses that are no longer being fully offset by reinforcements.
“The Kremlin currently has no intention of halting offensive operations, although it continues to suffer significant losses on the battlefield, which for three consecutive months have exceeded the replenishment of the Russian army,” Syrskyi said.

Syrskyi described his meeting with the Swedish military chief as an important sign that Sweden’s partnership with Ukraine remains a strategic priority.
During the talks, he thanked Sweden’s government, king, and citizens for their continued support of Ukraine and its armed forces.

The Ukrainian commander also highlighted Sweden’s 21st military aid package, which includes modern air defense systems, deep-strike capabilities, and ammunition.
Stockholm is also actively participating in several international initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including coalitions focused on air force development, naval cooperation, unmanned systems, armored vehicles, demining, and military technology.
Syrskyi also briefed the Swedish commander on the situation along the roughly 1,200-kilometer active frontline and outlined Ukraine’s current needs in weapons and military equipment.

He stressed that continued military cooperation between Ukraine and NATO partners is helping to shape what he described as a new security architecture for Europe.
According to Syrskyi, the growing cooperation between Ukraine and Western allies is essential not only for supporting Ukraine’s defense but also for increasing pressure on Russia to end its war of aggression.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that Ukrainian forces made tactical advances near Kupiansk, Oleksandrivka, Huliaipole, and the Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka direction.
