Denmark Fast-Tracks Delivery of Caesar Artillery Systems to Ukraine by 2025
Denmark allocated additional funds to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces and will expedite the delivery of already contracted defense systems, the Danish Ministry of Defense announced on December 6.
A key focus is accelerating the transfer of French-made Caesar self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine. Initially scheduled for delivery in 2026, the 155-mm systems will now reach Ukraine by 2025.
“The defense industry has shown it can provide what Ukraine urgently needs. Therefore, the government will expand the industrial pool so that the remaining contracts can be signed this year,” Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said.
The industrial pool has been allocated approximately $360 million (2.6 billion Danish kroner), with plans to increase this amount in the near future. Additionally, ammunition supplies for the artillery systems will be expedited, ensuring Ukraine’s forces receive them in 2025.
“Artillery systems are in high demand in Ukraine, so I am pleased that Denmark can now contribute by ensuring Ukraine receives more artillery shells as early as next year,” Poulsen added.
The Caesar is a modern self-propelled artillery system known for its mobility, precision, and firepower. It is designed to quickly deploy, fire, and withdraw to avoid counterattacks, making it an effective tool in high-intensity combat scenarios.
Earlier, French-German defense conglomerate KNDS, which produces CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems launched a subsidiary in Ukraine.
