Ukrainian defense company Avarid has unveiled a new family of modular unmanned surface vessels (USVs), known as MOBIDIK, capable of carrying a range of payloads—from interceptor drones and air-to-air missiles to long-range strike drones and a 300-kilogram warhead.

According to Militarnyi on June 27, the platform has already been developed in six operational variants, with the company preparing to begin serial production.

The new system was presented during the Ukrainian-Nordic DIH Naval Forge 2026 conference, where developers outlined the platform’s technical capabilities and its intended roles in future naval operations.

According to Militarnyi, MOBIDIK has an operational endurance of up to 120 hours, a range of 1,400 kilometers, and a top speed of 65 km/h. The USV is designed to operate in sea conditions with waves of up to 1.2 meters.

“The vessel you see now is a functional product that is already being used… I think more information about us will appear after we deliver our vessels and they begin carrying out combat missions,” the company’s head said during the presentation.

According to Militarnyi, Avarid has developed six versions of the platform for different operational roles.

The MD-1 and MD-2 variants are intended to establish a maritime air defense layer using interceptor drones. MD-1 carries up to five fixed-wing interceptor drones, while MD-2 is configured to launch eight quadcopter-type interceptors.

The MD-3 version serves as a launch platform for the company’s MORRIGAN middle-strike drones, designed to engage ships, coastal infrastructure, and reconnaissance assets at medium range.

The MD-4 configuration is designed to deploy a jet-powered long-range strike drone against high-value targets at strategic distances.

The MD-5 variant combines a Browning M2 heavy machine gun with two air-to-air missiles, including R-73, AIM-9 Sidewinder, or compatible alternatives, allowing it to engage both aerial and surface targets.

Meanwhile, the MD-6 assault configuration carries a 300-kilogram warhead alongside FPV attack drones and is intended for strikes against large surface vessels and port infrastructure.

According to Militarnyi, the company has completed development of the MOBIDIK platform and is now moving toward codification and serial production.

Earlier, Ukraine unveiled the Sirena uncrewed surface vessel, a maritime electronic warfare platform capable of carrying AIM-9M Sidewinder air-to-air missiles adapted for naval use, alongside advanced jamming and surveillance systems.
