Drone Strike Ignites Russian Explosives Plant Owned by Sanctioned Oligarch

Вrones attacked the “Minudobreniya” chemical plant in Rossosh, Voronezh region, sparking a fire at a finished product warehouse, according to OSINT analysis by ASTRA on April 7.

Visual evidence provided by eyewitnesses indicates that the roof of the plant’s finished goods warehouse caught fire following the drone strike.

Earlier reports from ASTRA also noted a separate fire approximately four kilometers from the facility. The Voronezh region governor confirmed the overnight attack, stating that a man was hospitalized with burns after a downed UAV ignited the roof of a warehouse.

Officials also reported damage to four private residences in the surrounding area, with emergency services deployed to the scene.

JSC “Minudobreniya” is one of the largest chemical enterprises in the Voronezh region and operates under the management of JSC “Roskhim.” The asset has been widely linked in the media to Arkady Rotenberg, a prominent Russian billionaire who is currently under international sanctions, Astra writes.

The facility boasts a significant production capacity, capable of manufacturing up to 1.2 million tons of NPK fertilizer and over 550,000 tons of ammonium nitrate annually. Notably, ammonium nitrate is a critical dual-use chemical that can be utilized in the production of explosives.

The strategic nature of the plant makes it a recurring target for Ukrainian forces aiming to disrupt Russia’s military-industrial supply chains. The facility was previously targeted by Ukrainian drones on the night of December 13, 2025, according to Astra.

The attack on the Voronezh fertilizer plant follows an escalating and systematic Ukrainian campaign to dismantle the chemical backbone of Russia’s military-industrial complex. This strike comes after recent overnight attacks on two massive chemical enterprises—Tolyattikauchuk and KuibyshevAzot—in the Samara region, as well as a strategic logistics hub in Taganrog.

By consistently targeting facilities that produce dual-use materials such as ammonium nitrate, synthetic rubber, and polyamides, Ukraine is actively choking off the domestic supply of raw materials essential for manufacturing explosives and military vehicle components, aiming to paralyze the logistical lifelines that sustain the Kremlin’s war machine.
