Drone Strikes Dagestan for the First Time, Allegedly Targeting Russian Port
A drone targeted Dagestan’s Caspian coastal city of Kaspiysk, marking the first reported UAV strike in the region since the war began, according to Russian Telegram channels Shot, Mash, and Baza. Dagestan’s head, Sergey Melikov, later confirmed the attack, stating that the drone was shot down, with no reported injuries on November 6.
According to Baza, the incident caused three flights to be delayed at Makhachkala Airport. Mash and Shot reported that a Ukrainian A-22 model drone was used in the attack.
Eyewitnesses and footage from the scene indicate that the drones were attempting to strike the main base of Russia’s Caspian Flotilla.
This base houses units of Russia’s coastal forces, including marine infantry.
The flotilla has been involved in missile strikes on Ukraine, and the 177th Marine Regiment has been active in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The Head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation stated that the Russian port was attacked in Kaspiysk.
Although reports indicate no fires at the flotilla base following the attack, local sources and footage suggest one drone may have exploded on site, claims Russian Astra media.
Earlier, drones hit a Russian oil refinery 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
