Drones Reportedly Hit Major Russian Missile Battery Plant for Second Time in 48 Hours

A Russian defense facility in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region, was struck by drones for the second time in two days, according to local authorities and eyewitness reports.
The primary target of the May 24 strike was the “Energia” plant, a major supplier of components for Russia’s military-industrial complex.
Residents in Yelets reportedly observed unidentified drones overhead before a series of explosions were heard.
Lipetsk region governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the incident, stating that a drone had crashed in the city’s industrial zone. These claims couldn’t be independently verified.
Russian forces reportedly deployed helicopters in an attempt to intercept the drones, according to eyewitness accounts.

The same facility was previously hit overnight on May 23, with Ukrainian military officials confirming the strike.
“A hit in the target area has been confirmed, along with a series of explosions. A fire broke out on the facility’s premises. Detailed information on the consequences of the strike is being clarified,” the statement read.
The Energia facility is Russia’s largest manufacturer of chemical power sources. According to earlier local media reports, the plant produces a wide range of systems, from AA batteries to power units for Bulava missiles and spacecraft.
Yelets, where the plant is located, lies approximately 200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
On the same day, drones struck a major chemical plant in Russia’s Tula region, reportedly causing damage to acid storage tanks and prompting evacuations in nearby areas.
