European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold a video call with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance on August 13, ahead of Trump’s planned meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, according to details from German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius in an email cited by Bloomberg on August 11.

Kornelius stated that the call is scheduled for 15:00 CET (09:00 ET) on Wednesday and will include German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the prime ministers of Italy, Poland, and Finland.

“The talks will address further options for exerting pressure on Russia, as well as the preparation of possible peace negotiations and related issues of territorial claims and security,” he said.

Before this call, Berlin will host a separate virtual meeting at 14:00 CET (12:00 GMT) with Zelenskyy, EU, and NATO officials, alongside the same European leaders.

Following the Trump call, a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing”—countries preparing support measures for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire—will take place at 16:30 CET, hosted jointly by Germany, France, and the UK.

Earlier, it was reported that on August 15, US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are set to meet in Alaska for talks, with Moscow pushing for future negotiations to be held on Russian territory.

The agenda is expected to cover the war in Ukraine, potential ceasefire terms, and security issues.
