Half of All Ammunition on the Frontlines is Made in Ukraine, Says Prime Minister
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during a government meeting that Ukrainian-made ammunition now accounts for half of all munitions used in combat zones. He emphasized the substantial increase in domestic arms production, which has tripled in 2023.
Shmyhal stated, “We are working daily with our partners to increase weapons supplies and enhance the development of our defense industry. In 2023, the production of weapons in Ukraine increased threefold. Every second munition in the combat zone is Ukrainian.”
He also highlighted ongoing efforts in Ukraine’s missile program and the country’s progress in producing artillery systems and armored vehicles. The Prime Minister noted, “We are establishing joint production with partners and attracting funding for the purchase of Ukrainian weapons. Each shell, each drone, and each piece of artillery sent to the front line increases the strength and capability of our forces, helping to preserve their lives.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that the ratio of artillery ammunition used by Ukraine and Russia on the battlefield had decreased from 1:3 in winter 2024.
