Hungary Summons Ukraine’s Ambassador Over Alleged Election Interference

Hungary has summoned Ukraine’s ambassador to Budapest over what it describes as attempts by Kyiv to interfere in Hungary’s parliamentary elections, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in a post on X on January 27.
“Today, we summoned Ukraine’s Ambassador to the MFA in Budapest. We will not tolerate any interference in Hungary’s elections, including Ukraine’s attempts to influence the outcome and to intervene in the electoral process in favour of the Tisza Party,” Szijjártó wrote.

He accused Ukraine’s leadership of conducting “an open, shameless and aggressive interference campaign” aimed at supporting the opposition Tisza Party, adding that Hungary’s future “can only be decided by the Hungarian people” and that Budapest would “defend our sovereignty by every possible means.”

This isn’t the first time Hungary has blaming Ukraine for supposed election interference. Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had accused Ukraine of attacking Hungary in an attempt to interfere in parliamentary elections and ordered the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest to be summoned for talks, European Pravda reported.
There are is no reputable evidence to prove claims of Hungarian officials about Ukraine’s alleged election interference.
Orbán has also stated that Hungary would not vote in favor of Ukraine’s European Union membership for the next century.
