Japan will transfer an additional $3 billion to Ukraine, backed by frozen Russian assets. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

Zelenskyy extended his congratulations to Shigeru on his appointment as Prime Minister and expressed gratitude for Japan’s previous aid, which amounted to $12 billion in humanitarian and financial assistance provided to Ukraine.

The President specifically highlighted the Japanese government's decision to allocate an additional $3 billion to Ukraine, secured through frozen Russian assets.

Previously, on December 24, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine received a $1 billion tranche from Japan and the UK under the World Bank’s Development Policy Loan program, “Foundations of Growth.”
