The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the Russian strike on Kyiv on December 20, which killed 1 person and injured 13, causing debris to fall across 3 districts.
Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, condemned the Russian attack on diplomatic institutions as an entirely barbaric act, stating, "Such strikes on diplomatic missions cross all red lines and violate international norms. By targeting these institutions, Russia once again proves its status as an absolute barbarian."
It was reported that Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv caused damage to several diplomatic missions, including the embassies of Portugal, Argentina, Albania, Palestine, North Macedonia, and Montenegro. No foreign diplomats were harmed.
"[Vladimir] Putin confirmed the honorary title bestowed upon him by the President of Ukraine yesterday,” said Tykhyi.
Previously on December 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s proposal for a “high-tech duel” involving Western air defense systems in Kyiv, calling him a “dumbass.”
Tykhyi informed that the Ukrainian side is currently assessing the damage and working on its resolution.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed damage to the St. Nicholas Cathedral, located in the city center.
Ukraine has already informed its partners about the attack and its consequences.
Russian forces launched a coordinated missile attack on Kyiv, likely using ballistic missiles, according to a report by the Kyiv City Administration.
