Latvia Sends Second Batch of 1,500 Strike Drones to Ukraine as Part of International Drone Coalition

Latvia has sent a new shipment of 1,500 strike drones to Ukraine, bolstering efforts under the International Drone Coalition, a multinational initiative co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom.
Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced the delivery, noting that the drones are part of a larger order of 12,000 units to be produced by two Latvian companies in the first half of 2024 for Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The total value of the contract is €17 million.
On April 28 Spruds shared video and photos on his X platform, showing a truck loaded with boxed drones ready for transport. A similar batch of 1,500 drones was delivered earlier this month.

The International Drone Coalition now includes 18 donor nations. Together, they are equipping Ukraine with critical aerial technologies, ranging from reconnaissance UAVs to FPV drones and multirotor bombers, designed to enhance battlefield effectiveness and save lives on the front lines.
Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence had received a rare Sikorsky S-76A medevac helicopter through a charitable initiative, an asset valued at up to $1.5 million.
