Lithuania to Invest in Ukraine’s Long-Range Palyanytsia Drone Missile Production
Lithuania has announced its readiness to invest in the production of the Palianytsia rocket drone, a key component of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities program.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram following intergovernmental consultations with a Lithuanian delegation led by Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas on December 20.
“We held intergovernmental consultations with our Lithuanian colleagues. The strategic partnership between Ukraine and Lithuania is vital for all of Europe, and today, we took significant steps to strengthen this partnership,” Shmyhal stated.
“We discussed key issues concerning our future cooperation, particularly enhancing the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe. We deeply value Lithuania’s comprehensive support and thank them, along with all our partners, for their readiness to invest in Ukraine’s defense sector. Specifically, Lithuania expressed its willingness to support the production of the Palianytsia rocket drone.”
He also highlighted discussions on Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, noting Lithuania’s contribution of equipment decommissioned from the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant and Vilnius Thermal Power Plant.
“We hope for continued collaboration in this area,” he said.
Other topics included strengthening trade and economic ties, Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, increasing sanctions against Russia, and confiscating frozen Russian assets.
“We urge our European partners to develop a mechanism that ensures Ukraine receives not only the profits from frozen Russian assets but also the assets themselves. The aggressor must pay—this is only fair,” Shmyhal emphasized.
On December 10, it was announced that Ukraine had begun the serial production of the Palianytsia rocket drone, successfully deployed the ‘Peklo’ drone-missile in combat, and continued trials of the new ‘Ruta’ missile.
