Metallica Shares Tribute to Ukrainian Soldier Performing “Nothing Else Matters”

Metallica shared a video on Instagram featuring the Ukrainian bandurist and serviceman Taras Stoliar, performing a cover of their iconic song “Nothing Else Matters.”

In the video, Taras Stoliar, an honored artist of Ukraine/PFC, Reconnaissance Operative in 112th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, plays “Nothing Else Matters” on a 62-string bandura, a traditional Ukrainian folk instrument. With the tour endingm, he is now returning to Ukraine, back to the front.

The band wrote on their official Instagram account that they learned of Cultural Forces through the band’s frontman James Hetfield.

From September 16 to November 17, Taras Stoliar toured the United States with the "Cultural Forces" ensemble. The group, consisting of 6 professional musicians-turned-soldiers and a volunteer actively working on the frontlines, performed 170 concerts across various states.

In the beginning og November, Ukrainian musician and drummer Mykola Sostin, known as Amorth and renowned for his role in the legendary black metal band Drudkh, was killed in action while defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion. He was 39 years old.
