No Crime Found in Slovakia’s MiG-29 Donation to Ukraine, Case Now Closed

A Slovak investigator has halted a criminal case into the 2023 transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets and parts of a KUB air-defense system to Ukraine, finding no evidence of a crime, according to Politico on November 10.
Politico reported that the decision was taken on October 30 following a review by the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Spokeswoman Gabriela Kováčová said the case was closed because “it was sufficiently established that the act in question does not constitute a criminal offense and there is no reason to refer the case further.”
According to Politico, the probe examined actions by the former government that approved and executed the transfer.

Slovakia delivered 13 MiG-29s and components of the KUB system to Ukraine in 2023 under the administration of then–Prime Minister Eduard Heger.
Politico added that the current authorities had questioned the move and ordered investigators to review its legality, but the investigation has now been discontinued.
Earlier, it was reported that Slovak police launched a criminal investigation into the previous government’s transfer of military aid to Ukraine, including efforts to detain the former defense minister.
