The Norwegian government has allocated 700 million Norwegian kroner (around €60 million) for procuring drones to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram announced the decision during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at Ramstein Air Base on January 9.
"Ukraine continues to face critical challenges and requires additional military support to defend itself against Russian aggression. Drones are a vital component of these efforts, providing capabilities for protecting critical infrastructure and supporting operations on the front lines," Gram stated.
The minister further emphasized the importance of coalition efforts in delivering both immediate and long-term assistance to Ukraine.
"Together with our allies, we will sustain our political, military, and economic support for Ukraine's defense," Gram added.
Earlier, UK Defence Secretary John Healey announced that the international Drone Capability Coalition, co-led by the UK and Latvia, had secured $55 million (£45 million) in contracts to supply 30,000 drones to Ukraine.
