Odesa Flash Floods Kill Nine, Including Family of Five, Rescue Teams Save Hundreds

Flash floods in Odesa, Ukraine, claimed the lives of nine people, including a family of five, after a day of intense rainfall, Ukrainian Emergency services reported on September 30.
Emergency services reported that the family, living on the lower ground floor, was swept away by the floodwaters and could not escape. Three other women also lost their lives while walking along a road.

Rescue teams worked through the night, rescuing 362 people and pumping water from buildings. The torrential downpour, which delivered almost two months' worth of rain in just seven hours, overwhelmed Odesa’s drainage system, causing widespread flooding.

Governor of Odesa regional military administration Oleh Kiper confirmed that 42,000 residents in 32 villages were left without power due to the severe conditions. Over 500 workers were involved in ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.
Previously, it was reported that Russian forces launched new strikes on Kirovohrad and Zaporizhzhia regions, targeting transportation and civilian infrastructure, leaving one dead and rail infrastructure damaged.
