The US Department of Defense signed a contract worth almost $1.2 billion with the Raytheon concern for the production of advanced AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air missiles. Part of the missiles are meant for Ukraine.

This was stated by the US Department of Defense.

"Raytheon Co., Tucson, Arizona, has been awarded a $1,195,985,081 firm-fixed-price, incentive modification to a previously awarded contract for Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) Production Lot 38," the statement says.

This contract involves Foreign Military Sales to Bahrain, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom, and is expected to be completed by December 2028.

AMRAAMs are universal aviation missiles that can used for both F-16 fighters and NASAMS air defense systems both used by Ukraine.
