Permission to strike Russia with long-range weapons will help reduce terror and the number of Russian attacks, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba wrote after Russia’s today massive combined, missile and drone, attack on Ukraine.

“This morning, Russia launched a massive missile attack on 15 regions of Ukraine, primarily on critically important objects of civil infrastructure and the energy system. There are casualties and injuries among civilians, as well as damage to energy objects. Russia continues to wage a cowardly war against the civilian population, which is a war crime,” Kuleba wrote on his official account on X (formerly Twitter).

The Minister continued by saying that there are two specific decisions that Ukraine’s partners can make to help put a quicker end to Russia’s terror.

“First, affirming Ukraine's long-range strikes on all legitimate military targets on Russian territory. Second, agreeing to use partners' air defense capabilities to shoot down missiles and drones close to their airspace,” Kuleba said.

Dmytro Kuleba stressed that such steps will not escalate the current situation.

“None of these decisions are escalatory. On the contrary, they will deter Russia, and help to reduce terror and the number of Russian attacks, as well as the resulting casualties. Act now, not later. Help us save lives,” the Minister concluded.

On the morning of August 26, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack across Ukraine, targeting energy and civilian infrastructure, including the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant.
