On the night of March 27, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, while having tea with the crew of the nuclear-powered submarine Arkhangelsk, suggested the possibility of introducing temporary governance in Ukraine under the auspices of the United Nations and several countries to facilitate democratic elections.

On the same day, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that France and the United Kingdom would lead a “reassurance force” for Ukraine.

Putin stated, “In principle, it could be discussed under the guidance of the UN, the US, and European countries, along with our partners and friends, to explore the possibility of temporary governance in Ukraine. The aim would be to hold elections, establish a competent and trusted government, and then begin negotiations for a peace agreement.”

He further emphasized that with such a government in place, Russia could sign “legitimate documents” that would be recognized globally and considered reliable. However, Putin clarified that this was just one of the options available, adding that “such practices exist within the work of the UN.”

Putin also remarked on the legitimacy of Ukraine’s current government, stating that the authorities in Ukraine are not lawful because no presidential elections have taken place. He further stated, “In Ukraine, the ‘Nazis’ have significant influence.”

Previously, it was reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s approval rating has surged to 68%, according to a new poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
