Russia Bombs Kharkiv Overnight Leaving Eight Injured and Widespread Destruction

Russia launched another overnight attack on Kharkiv, striking the city with guided aerial bombs. The assault left at least eight people injured and caused widespread destruction across multiple districts, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov on October 1.
In the Saltivka district, a private home was completely destroyed, while another 12 houses sustained significant damage. Cars parked nearby and high-voltage power lines were also hit. A fire also destroyed 15 garages, and shockwaves damaged windows in nearby residential buildings.
“It is already known about one injured person in this area,” the mayor reported.

The Kyivskyi district came under heavy fire near the Barabashova metro station. The explosions ignited a massive blaze in market pavilions, spreading across more than 2,800 square meters.
According to Terekhov, several civilians were injured in the fire and blast wave, and the entrance to the metro was damaged.

Kharkiv’s emergency and utility services—including firefighters, energy crews, gas and water supply teams—worked through the night to extinguish the flames, repair infrastructure, and restore essential services for residents.
Earlier, Ukraine came under renewed drone and missile attacks, with casualties reported in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy. According to local authorities, the strikes damaged residential buildings, vehicles, and energy infrastructure.
