Russia Is Preparing Large-Scale Strikes Every Four Days, Ukraine Warns

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has issued a warning regarding Russia’s plans to significantly increase the frequency of its aerial strikes.
Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the minister cited intelligence reports suggesting that Ukraine must prepare for a schedule of massive attacks occurring approximately every four days, according to Interfax on April 17.

The intelligence data indicates that Russia is planning to conduct up to seven large-scale strikes per month.
According to the minister, each of these operations is expected to involve a substantial number of weapons, specifically "at least 400 drones in combination with at least 20 missiles."
This projected shift represents a major change in the patterns observed during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Previously, such large-scale coordinated attacks occurred roughly every 8 to 10 days, or even less frequently.

In recent months, Russian forces had primarily focused on using smaller waves of drones rather than combined missile and drone strikes at this frequency.
On April 16, 2026, Russia launched its most devastating aerial bombardment of the year, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas across Ukraine with a massive wave of nearly 700 drones and dozens of missiles.
The coordinated attack resulted in at least 18 fatalities and left over 100 people wounded, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
While Ukrainian defense forces successfully intercepted 667 of the incoming targets, including 90% of those launched during the assault, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the country continued to face a critical shortage of anti-ballistic missiles.
